Landscape Design for S-METRO Tower

A Strong Sense of Place
PLACEMAKING
Set along the busy Sukhumvit Road, S-Metro Tower is constantly exposed to the movement, noise, dust, and fumes of one of Bangkok’s major urban corridors. The landscape renovation is conceived as a green buffer and cleansing space—creating a moment of transition between the intensity of the street and the working environment within.
As part of the renovation, a new circulation path is introduced to maximize the available green space while providing more direct and intuitive access from the public sidewalk to the building. The landscape becomes both a threshold and a foreground, guiding people through layers of planting as they arrive and depart from the office.
Plant selection is carefully considered to frame views toward the building without obscuring its newly renovated façade. A diverse palette of trees, shrubs, and layered planting creates a pleasant green foreground while performing an important environmental role: capturing roadside dust and traffic pollutants, helping filter noise, and softening the building’s relationship with Sukhumvit Road.
Together, these strategies transform the landscape into a green filter between city and workplace—a cleansing garden within the intensity of Bangkok.
