Gardens of Layers and Transitions
Landscape Design for BAAN LOPBURI I

A Strong Sense of Place
PLACEMAKING
01 Place
Baan Lopburi II is a private residence situated within an active manufacturing and storage compound, where there is very little physical separation between home and workplace. The house exists alongside the everyday movement, activity, and infrastructure of the working environment, creating a unique condition where domestic and industrial life sit closely together.

02 Making
Rather than relying on a single hard boundary, TOPOLA Design creates a series of garden layers that buffers, filters, and transitions between the residence and the working environment beyond.
The design responds to multiple layers of the owner’s life, incorporating Feng Shui principles, family lifestyle, and the corporate identity of MO CHULA, the family business, into the landscape. The garden is also shaped around the grandmother, who enjoys spending time among the greenery and watching the family’s more than 20 adopted dogs, with spaces designed for both people and animal companions to coexist in the landscape.
Existing trees and site elements are embraced rather than concealed, including the existing water tower, which is incorporated as part of the new landscape composition and identity. Together, these layers of planting, program, heritage, and everyday life gradually transform the experience from work to garden, and from garden to home—creating privacy, calm, and a strong sense of dwelling amid the larger working compound.
